Who is putting on this event?

Newly created 501(c)(3) non-profit Sets in Cbus created this event and is working
towards executing it yearly.

How is the tennis & pickleball bracket created?
  • Clubs will each determine their Sets in Cbus representative teams in any manner they wish. Teams will be randomly placed in a single elimination tournament bracket to compete against the other Club teams in their division.
  • A tournament bracket will match club team representatives in a single-elimination tournament culminating with finals in each division played on
    the championship date.
  • Competing teams will have a one-week period to play their assigned matches with the winners advancing to the next round.
  • Early round matches will be organized and played between the competitors at times and locations of their choosing within time periods set for the tournament.
What happens if the players can’t agree upon a date & time within the week timeframe to play their match?

Teams must complete their matches or will be subject to forfeit. Teams can
substitute alternates if players cannot make the match.

What is expected from the tennis pro & captions?
  • Promoting interest within your teams & members to participate. Spread the word via word of mouth and help the Sets In Cbus Executive team distribute marketing materials within their club.
  • Clubs are also encouraged to designate one person to drive fundraising efforts.
Who do we direct questions to from our club members?
  • After the firs the first year, starting in September 2024, each club will have a representation on the board to help guide the tournament play in 2025 and beyond.
  • Each club would have an active voice determining the charity/-ies that the clubs would support through the fundraising association with the annual, inter-club championship.
What is expected from the racquet club?
  • Jefferson Country Club has agreed to host the championship cup finals and fundraising event this year, 2024. The future committee of club representatives would allow for an equal vote to determine the charitable purpose and also the location to host in the years to come.
  • Publicity: leading up to the event and after will allow for the winning teams/clubs to get most of the credit from a communications perspective.
  • Court Time: We ask that clubs cover court time costs as a gesture of support for the charity event. This fosters goodwill among participating clubs. In case of inclement weather and the inability to reschedule, the tournament will cover relocation costs to an indoor facility, with advance notice required.
  • Food/Drinks During Matches: Clubs are not obligated to supply food for matches. Match scheduling should be coordinated between teams, and players should bring their own food and drinks to sustain themselves during the event. This approach ensures resources are directed towards supporting the charitable cause of the tournament.
How does the point system work?
  • Championship Cup: Each first round match in each division that is played will be worth 1 point for the winning club. Second round matches will be worth 2 points for the winning clubs. Quarterfinal matches will be worth 3 points, Semifinals winners will earn 4 points, and 5 points will be awarded to the clubs whose representative teams win any division. There will be one Championship Cup for Tennis and one Championship Cup for pickleball.
  • Fundraising Cup: The club that accumulates the highest amount of donations for the American Cancer Society will win the Sets in Cbus: Serving for a Cause Fundraising Cup. All donations, live/silent auction winners, and other fundraising activities will be added together with each attributed to the applicable club.
